 Repeat Prescriptions
If agreed by your doctor, you may obtain repeat prescriptions by presenting your repeat prescription form (the white counterfoil to your original green prescription) at reception. Please allow 48 hours for collection. Alternatively, you may send your request by post, enclosing a stamped, addressed envelope. Unfortunately, telephone requests for prescriptions cannot be accepted, as errors can result.
Online Prescription Reorder
You can now reorder your repeat prescriptions online via a webform here to avoid having to drop it off at the surgery in person or posting it. Medication ReviewsA doctor or nurse will typically review you medication at least every 6 months. This is to ensure optimal treatment and minimize side effects. If the doctor or nurse feels your condition/medication needs review they will attach a yellow form to your prescription letting you know what needs review. This might be an appointment with the nurse or doctor, or a blood test.
NEW SERVICE
Repeat Dispensing
This is a new service that is suitable for anyone who takes the same medication regularly and has not had any change in their tablets in at least the last 6 months. It is better suited to relatively simple regimes such as a couple of blood pressure or thyroid tablets. The surgery will give you 6 or 12 months of repeat dispensing issue forms (like a prescription) that you take to a named pharmacy who look after them for you. Every time you need more tablets over this period you then just need to call into the pharmacy where your script will be waiting for you (rather than having to arrange for a repeat prescription to be issued). The same charge is levied by the pharmacy as for a standard prescription.
You can ask your doctor for this service after a medication review when all of your blood tests and blood pressure checks, etc are up to date. It is important that you remember to come to see the nurse for your checks, or have your blood tests done promptly when they are due so that the next set of issue forms can be given.
If you decide to change pharmacy then your existing forms are destroyed and new ones issued to the new pharmacy. With your permission any changes will be communicated between the surgery and the pharmacy.
Remember from April 1st 2009 cancer patients get free prescriptions. Ask reception for an exeption form.
