Dr Johnstone runs a liquid nitrogen treatment session once a month on a Thursday.
This is useful for removing warts, verrucas, skin tags, fleshy growths and other assorted small lumps and bumps. Liquid nitrogen is extremely cold and and will 'freeze burn' any tissue it comes into contact with.
After treatment the blemish will turn red for a few days then drop off. Someimes a blood blister will form underneath but this resolves in a day or two. The cosmetic result is usually very good with no scarring but sometimes the area is a little paler than surrounding skin as melanocytes (pigment producing cells) are very sensitive to freezing.
Usually only one treatment is required, but larger warts and verrucas sometimes require a second treatment.
