This new group has been set up to provide support for frail elderly and other needy patients for the practice.

The group is autonomous but will liaise with, and take referrals from, the practice.

The group, if requested, will:

  • provide transport - for appointments at the surgery or hospital for patients who have difficulty walking or getting about for other reasons;
  • help frail elderly patients with heavy or tricky jobs around the house or garden and/or take them out occasionally;
  • visit or telephone housebound patients to provide human contact and stimulating and companionable conversation;
  • provide other kinds of neighbourly help as required and appropriate.

If you have an hour or two a month that you would be prepared to donate to this good cause - you do not need to commit yourself to a regular slot - and would like to know more please speak to reception who can provide you with contact details for the group. Volunteers will be covered for public liability and personal accident insurance as members of RSVP(retired and Senior Volunteer Programme).
