Appointments

The surgery is open from 8.00am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and extended opening hours on Saturday morning..

We will do our best to give you an appointment with the doctor of your choice regardless of who you are registered with.  Please inform reception when booking.  Emergencies are dealt with by the duty GP.

Book well in advance for non-urgent appointments.  If you need to cancel an appointment, please do so as soon as possible.  Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult and separate appointments are needed for EACH family member.

Appointments may be made by telephoning 01202 723372 or by calling at the surgery.  Please select one of the following options:

  • Press 1 - Appointments
  • Press 2 – Visits and Messages for Doctors
  • Press 3 – Emergencies
  • Press 4 – General Enquiries
  • Press 5 – Test Results

Routine appointments may be made well in advance (maximum two months) which will enable us to offer you an appointment at a time best suitable to your requirements and with the clinician of your choice.  If you cannot keep an appointment, please inform us as soon as possible as this will assist in over-subscribed situations.

Consultations with a specific Doctor are by appointment only which can be made by telephone, at reception during normal surgery hours or online via the link at the top of this page.  To access the on-line service a registration form needs to be completed, which is available at reception and some form of identification needs to be shown for security purposes.

Emergency / Urgent Appointments – Triage System

If you need to be seen the same day, please telephone as soon as possible after 8.00am.  If your problem requires urgent assistance, please make this clear to the receptionist.

Triage surgeries are held every weekday, mornings and afternoons. These are not for long-standing problems but for urgent medical conditions only (for any life threatening conditions – you should call 999).   You will be booked into our same day emergency appointments system whereby our Duty GP will call you back to discuss your problem and decide the best course of action.

Patient Check-in

To save you from having to queue at the reception counter we have an automatic self check-in service.  The computer screen is on the wall to the right as you enter the reception area.  This service is only available to those patients who have a pre-booked appointment with either the Doctor, practice Nurse or physiotherapist.  It cannot be used for patients waiting to see a health visitor or counsellor.

It is easy to use; just follow the on-screen instructions: tap the screen to select whether you are male or female, select your birthday number and month.  Note, if two patients share the same birthday it will ask you for the year you were born also.  It will then confirm your appointment time and the clinician.  Select OK and take a seat in the waiting room and wait to be called.  It there are any problems you will be instructed to report to the receptionist.

Telephone Advice

Please telephone the surgery and the receptionist will explain how the triage system works.  You may be asked to telephone the surgery at an appointed time or the doctor may telephone you directly.  Messages for doctors or nurses can be left at any time.

Cancellations/Did Not Attends

If you cannot keep an appointment please remember to telephone the surgery giving as much notice as possible.

We have a high rate of appointments where patients fail to attend and do not call ahead to cancel.  As I am sure you are aware this is a waste of valuable NHS resources and increases our wait for GP appointments.  If you are unable to make an appointment, please remember to call and cancel, giving other patients the opportunity to have your appointment.  We do have a policy if you have more than 3 failure to attend appointments, you will be issued with a warning letter.  Any further occurrences may result in removing you from our patient list.

What we ask of you

Please remember to treat our staff with the respect that they deserve.  We will not tolerate foul and abusive language or aggressive behaviour against our staff and we will involve the Police if necessary.  Please also remember to respect your fellow patients in the waiting room by talking quietly, respecting their privacy, turning off mobile telephones, music players, etc. and keep your children under control.
